Are there any specific teachers, resources, or books that have influenced your yoga journey?
I have practiced in many different setting over the years, each one enriching my practice. I learned a lot during my several years at The Yoga Corner. The instructor was rigid and at times unyielding which allowed me to experience a deeper appreciation of patience with myself, others and even life itself.
Can you share a memorable "aha" moment or breakthrough experience you have had through yoga?
I am so grateful to have found this wonderful warm, open and inviting community at Sukha inspired. I continue to learn more about myself and have learned what I consider two valuable lessons while practicing with the Sukha instructors: That I am currently the best version of myself and to celebrate who I am, and I have the choice to react or merely observe. I really love the different styles of each of the Sukha instructors. I love the poems, reading, insightful commentary and playlist. Every hour is a new and beautifully different experience.
In what ways do you see yoga continuing to play a role in your future?
My plan is to continue to practice yoga until I am no longer able to roll up my mat. My favorite pose…..everybody loves shavasana
What initially drew you to yoga and how has your practice evolved since then?
I began my yoga journey in the early 80’s when I took a workshop in meditation at Sinclair. I learned that yoga is a perfect compliment to a meditation practice. So I took a yoga class, fell in love and have had an affair of the heart ever since. I very much enjoy the sense of community yoga provides as well as the individual expression it brings to each of us.
How has yoga impacted your life on and off the mat?
During my busy stress filled working years, and even now that I am retired, I use my yoga practice as an anchor. It redirects my mind and settles my ‘pinball brain’. I am always amazed at how personally focused I am during my hour of practice. As I have gotten older I have noticed my body is more resistant but my mind has grown more receptive.
