I first discovered yoga over 20 years ago while in college, when I enrolled in a semester-long Hatha Yoga course at Ball State University. It was my first exposure to the mind–body connection, meditation, and conscious breathing, and I was immediately fascinated by the depth of this ancient practice. At the time, yoga was not yet widely accessible in Midwest Indiana, and as I graduated and moved into the demands of adult life, my practice slowly fell away.
In 2017, after years of work, life responsibilities, and burnout from mainstream fitness culture, I found my way back to yoga. A newly opened studio, The Corner Mat, became my home base, and through consistent practice I realized it wasn’t just my body that was tired—my nervous system and spirit needed care. Yoga offered me a way back to myself. Through movement, breath, and stillness, I learned to pause, soften my reactions, and reconnect with a sense of inner steadiness. This is where I came to understand Sukha—a state of ease, contentment, and grounded presence that exists within all of us.
In 2020, my personal life shifted again as I moved to Dayton and married my husband. The pandemic made it difficult to find community, and while I practiced online, I longed for deeper connection. In September 2021, I began my Yoga Teacher Training at Day Yoga in Dayton. I started teaching there in March 2022, completed my 200-hour training in July 2022, and later earned my 300-hour certification through My Vinyasa Practice. I am also a Certified Chair Yoga Teacher through Yoga Heals Us. These trainings, mentors, and communities deeply shaped my teaching and ultimately led to the creation of Sukha Inspired Yoga.
Alongside yoga, I have extensive training in sound therapy. I have completed over 200 hours of formal study through the Sound Healing Academy’s Integral Sound Therapy diploma track, including applied case work. I offer both group sound experiences and individualized sound therapy sessions, guided by structured assessment, intentional protocols, and trauma-aware principles. This work allows me to support nervous system regulation, rest, and integration through sound and vibration in a thoughtful, grounded way.
Professionally, I bring over 20 years of experience working in social service roles supporting individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities. This background has deeply informed my person-centered, trauma-informed approach and continues to guide how I hold space—prioritizing safety, consent, and respect for each individual’s lived experience.
Beyond the studio, I am committed to community well-being and accessibility. I serve as Vice President of Karma Inspired Yoga, a nonprofit dedicated to making yoga and wellness offerings available through donation-based and sliding-scale programming. I also previously co-founded Englewood RISE and now continue to support the organization through small business education initiatives.
Opening Sukha Inspired Yoga has been one of the most meaningful privileges of my life. It is my hope to offer a space where people feel welcomed, supported, and encouraged to reconnect with themselves—whether through movement, sound, stillness, or conversation.
